Eureka trip July 2005

Daytrip to Dry Lagoon and Big Lagoon (hour drive north of Eureka, CA)

Teddy's place

thumbnail Returning home, we stopped at a cliffside home of an old friend of the family, Teddy.  We are sitting on her deck with a view of the Pacific Ocean, drinking coffee or lemonade.
thumbnail The cliff is eroding, and this house will need to be moved within a few years.  There used to be several more homes before the cliff's edge, but the ground where they stood is now ocean.
thumbnail Teddy is shown here on the far left of the photo.

Projects and Chores

thumbnail I gathered the grass and weeds that my aunt weedwhipped.  This is a burn pile.
thumbnail My mom and I weeded the planter boxes and the interiors of the wire meshes that guard the trees and bushes from the deer.
thumbnail This is the water filtration house, and I put siding on it during my vacation.  The side facing the left was mostly done, and the part to the left of the door was too.  I felt the part on the right need to be redone, due to excessive gaps at the ends of the boards.  The redwood lumber was routed by my aunt, and she purchased it used.
thumbnail We still need to apply siding to the back and paint it.
thumbnail My mom sewed this doll's dress during our stay.  She didn't use a pattern, but it turned out rather well.  The shoes, hat, and flag were bought, though the hat's ribbons were added.

thumbnail I thought the clouds looked nice.  Fay and I were waiting for my mom to buy something at the fabric shop.
